Stop Smoking

(For other Problems Scroll Down This Page)

Hypnosis is  the most effective, quickest and easiest way to stop smoking. Once you  really want to give up smoking, with hypnosis I have 95% success, (compared to an average of only 30% for most other methods). There is no willpower required. Willpower is probably the hardest way to give anything up! The change to once again becoming a non-smoker is  immediate.

Think of it, in a couple of hours you can be healthier, living better, breathing better, tasting and smelling food better and enjoying it more. You are free from the chains of your habit and using your money for better things, like for your family or  holidays, for example. As your health improves, so does your appearance and you definitely smell better!

None of the  side effects of giving up smoking are experienced with Hypnosis. There are no withdrawal symptoms, or subsequent cravings and no weight gain. You just get the great feeling of health and well-being, plus the additional financial benefits that come with becoming a non-smoker. The smoking habit is kicked in one session, (I offer a free follow up session if the client feels it is required. But only about 10% of my stop smoking clients have ever needed this!). Hypnosis is probably the least expensive way of giving up smoking too, as you give up immediately and in a short time the treatment has paid for itself.

It's easy, it's quick, it's painless, it can even be fun! So why wait? Kick the habit and give up the weed NOW!

Weight Loss

Most people trying to lose weight know exactly what they need to do in order to shed those extra pounds, kilos or whatever. They even know what to do to further tone up their body and look slim, fit and healthy.

I am presuming here that you do not have a medical condition, nor are you on medication making it impossible to control your own weight. So, why haven't you been able to do it? What has happened? Why hasn't what you did do work?

The problem is either one of two things. Either your motivation is not strong enough to do what you need to do. Or, your weight problem is just one of the things in your life that you feel is beyond your control and you are frustrated and giving up.

With Hypnosis we can do one of two things. For the first situation, using Hypnotic Suggestion Therapy, we can boost your motivation, your willpower, your confidence and drive to achieve your target weight. In situations where, in the past, your resolve weakened, you will feel massive drive and motivation. So strong that you will actually enjoy eating in a healthier and more sensible way. And enjoy taking appropriate and regular exercise.

In the second case, Hypnoanalysis is the most successful and quickest way known of releasing the cause of restricting and weakening feelings preventing you from even believing that you can achieve what you want. The root cause of routine failure and the subsequent feelings of failure, frustration, disappointment and despair, is always some old bottled up feeling or emotion, which is coming to the surface making it impossible to feel the strength to see things through.

Suggestion Therapy usually involves 2 or 3 sessions.

Hypnoanaylsis treatment, typically, takes between 6 and 12 sessions to complete, resulting in a permanent release from all of the weakening feelings, beliefs and restrictions in all areas of your life. It is a permanent cure. There is no problem to manage or to worry about reoccuring in the future, just a new lease of life and freedom.

Call me now for a chat or even to book a free initial consultation to find out more about this successful therapy. (See "Eating Disorders" link).

Blushing

The problem of blushing is very real for those who suffer from it. Blushing is normally caused by an initial feeling of embarassment which is only compounded by the resulting blushing. Sufferers can blush even when they do not consciously feel uncomfortable in any way. Some people are so distressed by the effect of blushing on their lives that they are willing to undergo surgery, with all its attached risks, in order to try to relieve their blushing problem.

Happily, this extreme measure is unnecessary. Hypnotherapy is very successful in treating the problem of blushing. As sufferers themselves will know, blushing is an unconscious act over which they have no control. As Hypnotherapy deals directly with the unconscious mind we can quickly resolve the impulses that cause the blushing.

For most cases of blushing, treatment usually involves uncovering the subconscious cause of the blushing or teaching the person how to easily and naturally control their feelings and reactions in any situation which in the past caused them to blush. Even in cases of deeper causes, it is a much less expensive and safer method than surgery and also quicker than most solutions offered by conventional psychology.

Anxiety

More people than you may think live their lives in a state of anxiety, tension and worry. This can seem to be mild anxiety,  it can also be chronic or severe. In some people it is brought on by particular thoughts, objects or events or can develop into a phobia.

Others have an ever present underlying feeling of fear or worry which clouds almost everything in their lives. Often the sufferer doesn't know why they feel like this, or why they cannot simply just relax and be confident that everything is fine and going to remain so. This is a classic anxiety problem which often also leaves the sufferer sensitive to other problems and prone to other fears and stresses.

Hypnosis an excellent tool for finding the root of these fears and anxieties and for dealing with them quickly and forever. Very often they are based on long forgotten experiences which have forged deep rooted beliefs in the person. Beliefs which they are usually unaware of and are surprised to discover! Use hypnosis to get back to a relaxed state of mind and body. Find the source of your anxiety and eliminate it. Then you can easily put any real concerns or problems in perspective and deal with them, free from any anxiety. Enjoy life fully again. Get back your enthusiasm and optimism for the future. Enjoy all the good things in life, it is a new beginning.

If you, or someone you know, are suffering from anxiety or feel a cloud of worry and/or fear over life, current or future, do you want to live the rest of your life under this cloud, or free yourself to new possibilities?

Panic Attacks

Panic Attacks are a very intense and distressing experience for anybody who suffers them. However, as anybody who has experienced them will probably know by now, they are a trick of the mind. Essentially what is happening is that the feeling portion of some disturbing past memory is being experienced out of context with the past event and definitely out of context with the present.

Panic attacks can be triggered by many things, but their occurence does not mean that there is anything "wrong" with you. It just menas that some particular chain of events has caused your mind to bring back part of a memory that you would prefer not to remember, (probably for the very reason that it was an intense and distressing event in the first place!)

Tricks of the mind are my business and it is relatively easy to integrate this memory properly and completely so that the mind is at peace again and the memory is resolved for good. Depending on the individual and the circumstances of their attacks, this can often be done very quickly. But always, immediate relief and assistance in dealing with attacks is gained from the first session.

Phobias

Pretty much everyone experiences things that give them "the shivers", or that they really don't like. But some people have Phobias. A phobia is an extreme, unpleasant feeling, fear or reaction, which is totally and inexplicably out of proportion to the object or event about which they are phobic. There are the classic phobias like spiders and flying, enclosed spaces and open spaces, cats, dogs and pretty much any animal under the sun. People are also afraid of such diverse things as buttons, flashlights, darkness, naked people(!), crowds, depths, light. In fact, you try and guess something and the chances are that somebody, somewhere, has a phobia about it. There is nothing strange about your particular fear. There are lists of phobias and their technical names available on the internet.

Phobias can be merely an inconvenience, or can ruin someone's life. It really depends on whether your object of fear is something that you come across in your daily life or not. Obviously a fear of the outdoors or open spaces can be extremely debilitating in any of its forms. But you may get away with a fear of snakes most of the time, (especially if you live in Ireland!) If you have a phobia it is a very real fear to you. But, the good news is that it can be treated and sometimes in a matter of minutes! It doesn't matter for how long you've had it, or how extreme or rare it is. Often a phobia can be cured in one session using Hypnosis. (Some cases may require two or three sessions). The results are instant and spectacular.

Below are the five main causes of this phenomenon. Phobias can be produced as....

1. the product of severe stress.
2. the product of a series of experiences which have built up
into an excessive anxiety
3. the product of a fear of fear itself.
4. a fear transmitted to them by another person.
5. the result of a severe past trauma

Number five is the one most people think of when they think of phobias and is probably the most common. Number four would be common too, where fearless children learn to be afraid of certain things, (thunder, for example), from an adult or another child who fears it.

Pain Control

Hypnosis has long been acknowledged as a means of controlling chronic pain. It can provide great relief to many sufferers of long term chronic pain. It can be used once your doctor has agreed that it is safe to reduce the pain messages you are receiving. Hypnosis can be used as an analgesic or even an anaesthetic. As pain is sensed by our mind and is individual to every person, we can use hypnosis to change our experience of it and, in this way, reduce it.

The power of hypnotic pain control has been proven thousands of times now in its use as an anaesthetic during operations, amputations and in various other documented medical and dental procedures.

Confidence, Self Esteem, Assertiveness, Shyness and Feelings of Inferiority

Many people feel that they lack confidence or suffer from a lack of self-esteem. Some people have feelings of inferiority or inadequacy. These are very common feelings even among many of those who, on the outside, seem confident, successful  and self assured. Very often these feelings are based on some misunderstood experience, or misinformation, in our past that we are still carrying around. Whatever the cause, they are usually fuelled by our beliefs about ourselves and where we fit in. The good news is that in most cases these beliefs are inaccurate and we can correct them.

Hypnotherapy is an excellent proven tool for dealing swiftly with these kinds of problems, dispelling feelings of inadequacy and replacing them with feelings and beliefs of confidence, high self-esteem and self-worth from the very first session. Free yourself from debilitating ideas, thoughts and beliefs that you may hold about yourself. This is especially effective if these beliefs have been causing you to feel bad about yourself deep down and stopping you from asserting yourself where you should. Learn to  socialise comfortably and follow your dreams.

Relaxation

In our modern world of stress, pressure and speed, we seem to get less and less time to relax. When we do, very often, we are so stressed and worked up that we cannot relax completely, or enough to give us the rest that we feel we need.

The essence of Hypnosis is relaxation. The first therapeutic effect it has on any problem is the ability to relax. Hypnonsis is essentially a natural state of deep, physical and mental relaxation. Many people who experience hypnnosis for the first time feel that they have relaxed more deeply than they possibly have ever done before in their lives.

This ability to relax can be taught in just one session, or learned at home from CDs or tapes, available from this site. Learn this and  it is something you can use forever. It is an ability to handle stress better and to relieve both mental and physical tensions. Learn to relax no matter what situation or condition you find yourself in. It is simple and easy to learn and something you get better and better at with practice.

Stress Management

Stress is so common nowadays in everyday life that everyone understands the word immediately. We live in a very modern, fast paced and fast changing world. People are under more and more social, financial, emotional, family and work pressure than ever before. Stress and its effects can range from mild to debilitating.

Apart from the obvious discomfort of stress and the things it can make us do, how it can ruin our personal life and affect our relationships, be under no illusion but that it also affects our physical health. Stress is now proven to be a significant contributer to many serious and often fatal organic diseases such as High Blood Pressure, Asthma, Heart Disease and Cancer and it is a barrier to recovery from many others. Stress is known to shorten our lives.

White blood cells, the soldiers of our immune system, which fight germs, have been observed in laboratories to disintegrate in a person under stress! This, literally, leaves our defences down. So, untreated, stress can spiral downwards from an unpleasant experience, to an emotional problem, to physical illness.

Learn to respond to life naturally in better ways than by becoming stressed. Remain relaxed in any situation. Can you imagine how much better you could enjoy and deal with life if it were stress free?! Manage and control stress over stressful periods and events. Eliminate it altogether from the situations which are causing it most. Do this in a natural way, without interfering further with your body by using drugs.  Learn to relax, perhaps for the first time. It's something you have probably never been taught how to do before! Open up new worlds of freedom, freedom to relax and enjoy life to the full.

Depression

Depression is forecast to be one of the most common worldwide health problems in the coming years. Of course there are many forms and levels of Depression and all but the most severe are usually treatable by Hypnotherapy. Hypnotherapy involves no drugs and deals with the underlying cause of the Depression as well as the symptoms. The duration and type of therapy required obviously varies from person to person, depending on the severity and cause of the Depression, but is usually a matter of weeks. In almost every case, some relief is experienced from the first session.

If you are on medication for Depression and under the care of a medical doctor for this problem, a referral or letter of acknowledgement will be required before beginning treatment.

Irritable Bowel Syndrome

Irritable Bowel Syndrome is an increasingly common and distressing complaint. It is generally accepted that there is an emotional, nervous or stress element in its cause and, very often, conventional medicine can discover no organic cause or infection. It is a condition from which it can be hard to find relief, but which is greatly helped and often cured by using Hypnontherapy. Hypnotherapy is now used to treat IBS effectively and safely in some hospitals in the U.K.

Anger Management

Anger Management is a phrase and term familiar to people and even used sometimes in a humourous way. However, some people have a very serious and distressing problem controlling their anger. Unfortunately, this problem also has dreadful and sometimes tragic consequences for those in contact with the person who has anger problems. It is usually those closest to the person with the problem who suffer the most. Sadly, increasing and frightening domestic violence figures are testament to this.

Anyone aware of current affairs will know that this problem is not confined to any social class or geographic area. Nor is it confined to either sex. Many women, as well as men, have problems with their tempers and behaviour. Anger Problems, thankfully,do not always result in violence, but they can still have a devastating effect on families and friendships and can also destroy careers.

If you, or someone you know, has a problem with their temper, an inner rage or anger, there is no need to accept it or let it destroy your life. Anger issues can be very successfully treated using Hypnotherapy. Remember, all therapy is 110% confidential. People can be helped in a two pronged way. Firstly, by helping them to control their feelings and emotions and to reduce their intensity. Then, if necessary, by finding the underlying source of their anger and dealing with that.

Eating Disorders

Many people are the victims of eating disorders. These can range from simple comfort eating, to binge eating, to addictions to certain foods right up to the more serious conditions of Anorexia and Bulimia.

It is accepted that most of these conditions, from the most trivial to the life threatening, are generally based in emotional or psychological problems. Many people eat when they feel down or bad, or are upset in some way.  Some people have a damaged or distorted self-image which they try to control, or change, by controlling what and how they eat.

If you have an eating problem you will have recognised it and possibly feel powerless in the face of it, causing you further pain. It will be very personal to you.  All therapy is done in the strictest confidence and understanding.

Use hypnotherapy to break bad eating habits, to cultivate healthy eating habits and to help inderlying psychological or emotional causes of eating disorders. It is a very rapid and thorough therapy causing change at the level at which feelings and compulsions are produced, thus making the changes easier, permanent and natural.

Guilt and Shame

Many, many emotional and behavioural problems and even illnesses have their root causes in feelings of guilt and/or shame. Often people are not aware that their behaviour is rooted in hidden feelings of guilt and shame.

Sometimes things have happened to us, or we have done something in the past, which our mind has never fully dealt with. These are left incomplete and like unhealed wounds in our mind.

Sometimes we carry guilt over something that we never did or said, often it is attached to grief. Sometimes we may have done something that at the time we felt ashamed of and we have never got over that feeling.

All therapy is carried out in complete confidentiality. I cannot even confirm to a family member whether or not someone is attending my clinic. Hypnotherapy is a very successful means of resolving feelings of grief, guilt and shame permanently providing ease, calm and peace of mind. It often also results in the dissappearance of habits, feelings and other behaviours which have been troubling us.

Obsessions and Compulsions

Do you ever find yourself performing certain activities over and over for no particular reason, or even in a way that you find annoying or distressing to yourself? Do you ever find yourself having obsessive thoughts about something, or somebody in particular?

A lot of us are set in our ways, are methodical, or like to be neat. That is fine, but there are some people who get very upset and distressed if their routine, or rituals or habits are broken. Some people appear to be repeatedly checking things or arranging things obsessively in a particular way. We can detect if somebody has a problem with compulsions and obsessions when they themselves are distressed by the activity, or are more distressed if they cannot carry it out.

Examples of this would be people obsessively checking electrical switches or locks, or excessively cleaning or washing. Others might be people compelled to touch things, carry out superstitions, or perform behaviours which can even be destructive or unpleasant.

Hypnotherapy is an excellent means of treating obsessions and compulsions. These behaviours are often distressing to the person and in extreme cases can make them very difficult to live with. They can even lead them to anti-social or illegal behaviour. These behaviours are usually driven by some deep inner feeling or conflict which can be treated and resolved at this deep level using hypnosis.

Sleep Problems

Hypnosis is a close relative to sleep and as such can be used as a route to sleep and sleeping better. Hypnotherapy is very effective in treating sleeping disorders such as insomnia, sleepwalking and even snoring! It can be used to help with "night terrors", which are fears around nighttime and sleeping in general, unpleasant dreams and nightmares.

Specialist help is available for Bed Wetting. (See Bed Wetting link).

Asthma, Hay Fever and Allergies.

Asthma is generally observed as an allergic reaction to something, or the product of tension and stress, resulting in a spasmodic reaction in the tiny muscles controlling the smallest airways in our lungs. Hay Fever is our body's protective reaction to something, usually certain plant pollens. Many people also suffer reactive symptoms, or allergies, when exposed to many and various other external elements. Many people's symptoms are caused or exacerbated by underlying emotional or psychological problems which can also be discovered and resolved using Hypnotherapy.

Most allergic reactions are a disproportionate protective response from our body to relatively harmless things. Very often they are the result of an incident or situation where we, or our subconscious defenses, misjudged the threat in the past and thus "learned" to overreact to it in the same way in the future. Sometimes we become suceptible to severe responses due to stress which has heightened our sensitivity to unexpected changes.

Asthma and Hay Fever sufferers can benefit greatly from Hypnotherapy. Adults and children can learn to control the attacks and gradually reduce them in frequency and intensity. Our subconscious, which controls our reactions to percieved threat, can be re-educated to deal appropriately with everyday elements so as not to cause the adverse reaction anymore.

People taking medication for any of the above problems, or under medical supervision for them, will only be treated with the written permission of their doctor.

Bed Wetting

Bed Wetting, or Nocturnal Enuresis, is a common problem and not only among young children. It can become particularly embarrassing if it continues as a child gets older, or on into adulthood. Hypnotherapy is a very successful treatment for this problem. Depending on the individual case, it may be assisted, or eliminated, in very few sessions. Other cases, where the cause is an underlying nervous or emotional problem, can take a little longer. Only in very rare cases is there a physical problem and this may be one condition where Hypnotherapy may be sought before a medical intervention.

In the case of children, not only can they be hypnotised, but they respond excellently to it as a therapy. I will always require the presence of a guardian and written permission before performing hypnosis on anyone under the age of sixteen. There is no risk, it is purely to comply with best ethical practice in dealing with minors.

Addiction

Like so many human problems, with all addictions there are two main elements to consider, the cause and the effect. In Hypnotherapy we take a two pronged approach to the problem and while dealing with the effect, the habit itself, we also find and deal with what is causing the addict to continue their habit.

Addictions can range from the relatively trivial to the fatal. People can be addicted to a substance or a behaviour. Hypnotherapy is only effective where a person is committed to giving up their habit and is an excellent method of eliminating the subconscious force compelling them to take or do something. It is also a powerful method of changing the person's perception of their addiction and changing it from something percieved as desirable, to something that it is desirable to discontinue.

For severe specialist addictions, such as some alcoholic and drug addictions, there are excellent counselling services and Hypnotherapy can be complementary to these. As always, if a person is taking any prescribed medication or under the supervision of a doctor, written permission will be required from their doctor before commencing therapy.

Sexual Problems

As our emotions and feelings are so closely connected to physical sex, it is little surprise to find that many sexual problems are psychological. It is accepted now that stress, tension, tiredness, anxiety, guilt, fear, phobias and bad experiences can have an adverse effect on sexual performance, drive or enjoyment. Apart from the common and well documented problems of male impotence, erectile dysfunction and female frigidity, vaginismus or painful sex, for which Hypnotherapy is an excellent, highly effective and rapid treatment. Hypnotherapy can be used to successfully treat the many and varied problems that people experience in their sexual lives which are too many to mention here. However, rest assured that you will not  be the first or only person to have experienced whatever it is that has become a problem for you.

Hypnotherapy for any problem is always carried out in absolute confidentiality. Ethics dictate that I could not even confirm or deny that a client was attending for therapy of any form.

Medical Conditions

Conventional medicine is more and more beginning to recognise the importance of our emotional and psychological health to our physical health. The effects of stress, tension, anxiety and depression on our health have all been documented and the importance of a positive outlook in patients recovering from conditions as serious as Cancer is being recognised.

Many day to day, non critical but debilitating, illnesses can be relieved or eliminated by Hypnotherapy. Many people themselves know that if they could relax, or overcome their fears, or feel peace of mind, that their physical ailments would dissolve away. So we can treat a lot of the symptoms suffered by many which are aggravated by stress, from Headaches and Migrane, to Colds, High Blood Pressure, Ulcers, some skin disorders (such as Psoriasis and Eczema) which are stress related, Warts, Tinnitus, Irritable Bowel, etc., etc.

We can also help prevent illness by controlling stress, tension and anxiety, by dealing with grief or change and learning to view ourselves as strong healthy individuals. We can use Hynotherapy to even ease pain, break bad habits, live healthier lifestyles and go easier on everything in our bodies, including our hearts and our lungs.

Many medical conditions and even organic diseases can be assisted using Hypnotherapy. Some conditions may require written permission from a doctor before therapy can be undertaken and sometimes it may only be used in conjunction with conventional medical treatment.

Self Concept

Wouldn't it be nice to know how you got to where you are? How you achieved your successes and where you went wrong when you didn't?  How often has someone made a comment about you that you found surprising but subsequently true?!

Isn't it strange not to have this information to hand about yourself? In general, we are all too engrossed in our life to take proper stock of it and too busy to even get to know ourselves and what is most important to us.

Are you consciously aware of your view of the world and where you see yourself in it? The idea of having a "concept" of ourselves is something we tend to never think of. How often do you sit down and think of where you are in your life, where you have come from and where you are going? Then sometimes when you do, you are too close to the action to be objective. Isn't it mad to think of trying to get somewhere without knowing where you are right now?

This information is inside us all and it is just a matter of using the right ways of getting to it. Although it sounds like a simple exercise, it is a very powerful one which helps us to make the right decisions about our future.

Goal Setting

We are all expected to achieve something in our lives, but nobody ever seems to teach us how to decide what that is! Have you ever had difficulty deciding what it is you really want, or need, to do? Have you ever had a great idea only to find out, after putting time and effort into it, that it was more difficult or less interesting than you first thought? Have you ever achieved a goal only to find it ultimately dissatisfying?

There are scientific ways of setting goals so that they are achievable, desirable and motivating. So that they will be exactly what we wanted them to be and so that there will be no unpleasant surprises or downsides. Once done, these techniques, like many clever things, seem like common sense. But how often is common sense ignored and only appears obvious in hindsight? Once you've learned how to do this you can apply it to any decision in your life from whether you want tea or coffee, to whether to change careers or countries.

Procrastination

What is it that causes you to delay, to ruminate, stall or put off making decisions or changes? Some people do this for their whole lives, ending up frustrated and having achieved nothing. When you know what to do, what stops you just doing it? Want to find out? Do you want to become more dynamic and decisive?

Both are possible and in a very short space of time. When you become aware of the processes you go through every time you stall, delay or put something off, you can then study these and change them for good.

Motivation

Different people are motivated in different ways. Do you know what it is, at the deepest levels that drives people. Do you know, at the unconscious level what it is that motivates you? What it is that is the difference between you being fired up, excited and full of energy about something, or painfully just going through the motions?

Learn your own motivation patterns, then learn how to use them and enhance them. Through this, learn how to meet like minded people or even motivate others who are not. Learn how to enjoy doing previously mundane tasks and how to get and remain excited and focused about your own goals and dreams.

Life Changes

Although it is not the only time that somebody can benefit from Personal Coaching, it is usually at times of change in their lives that people seek it most. It is at times like this that the skills of knowing who and where you are, setting your own goals, motivating yourself and making good decisions are vital. The wrong decision can set us off on a long journey in the wrong direction and one that some people can never come back from.

So do you feel you have to make a change, but you don't know to what?

Do you have an idea, but you are not sure about it or how to bring it to life?

Do you know what it is you want to do, but don't know if it is possible for you?

Do you know what you want to do, know it's possible, but don't know how to make it happen?

These are the most common situations that people find themselves needing help with. Sometimes it is because they realise that they are not happy with their lives, or they feel that their lives could be even better. Other people are forced into situations of change in their career or personal lives.

All these changes can be handled calmly and clearly. Most of the pain of change is the confusion, the  feeling of uncertainty and a lack of control. Eliminate these and change becomes an exciting opportunity. Knowing that you control your life again gives great peace of mind.

Communication

How much do you know about communication? Did you know, for example, that when we speak to someone in person, only 7% of the messages they receive from us are received through the words we use?! Are you always aware that the tone of voice is more important than the words we use? Are you, like most of us going around trying to communicate, using only 7% of your skills AND unaware of what you are saying with the other 93%!!

Can you read that 93% of what other people are really saying to you? Would you like to? Would you like to be able to influence people more and understand them better? Communication is vital to our lives and to getting what we want.

Just as we can influence and motivate others with our communication, are you aware that how you communicate with yourself is just as important? Are you demotivating yourself merely by how you talk about things? Listen to yourself for a while, it's very enlightening!

Learn how to communicate more effectively and ease your business and personal lives. Become more convincing and impressive. Change how you see and feel about things merely by changing how you represent them to yourself

Sports Performance

Varieties of hypnosis and visualisation have long been proven to assist in improving sports performance. There is a saying that "what the mind can perceive, it can achieve".  There are also methods of structuring how we get to the point of success and motivate ourselves to do what is required. Many are those we use for achieving any life goals, but some are specific to the area of sport and physical achievement. Many teams and individual sports stars now employ psychological coaches as an important part of their support team.

The techniques used by me are not only successful, but also easy and fun to do.

Public Speaking

Public Speaking is the most common fear that people have. The term doesn't only refer to making speeches in public, it also includes problems making business presentations, speaking at meetings, interviews or indeed any situation where we need to speak in a formal way to strangers.

Great assistance can be given in this area. Most of my work is with the unconscious mind. Most people, when asked, aren't really sure why they have a problem, but it is very real. This means that the discomfort is being generated subconsciously. These feelings of discomfort can  not alone be removed, but they can be replaced by positive feelings of confidence, comfort and even enjoyment.

Personal Coaching

The kind of things Personal Coaching can help with include getting to know and understand yourself better, discovering your controlling beliefs and changing negative or disempowering beliefs, helping to create a positive outlook, generating more energy, setting and achieving goals, motivating yourself, communicating better (with yourself and others), improving your health and lifestyle, becoming more decisive, improving your personal relationships, becoming more successful in your career and pretty much any area in your life where you feel things could be better.

So why would anybody need this? Well, we can't all be expert in everything and throughout our lives we call on the services of specialists in many areas, from mechanics for our car to the writers of cookbooks. At home, for example, we may know that we have a plumbing problem, but that doesn't mean we know what is causing it and we certainly have no idea how to get over it. Sometimes, once the cause is made clear to us we know how to solve it ourselves. Other times we also need someone to tell us what to do as well.

Personal Coaching is much like this. We often reach points in our lives where we know something is not working, or could be better or we've decided that something needs to be changed. Like the plumbing scenario, occasionally we need to look at the whole system and review how it is working.

Personal Coaching can be proactive, preventative or preparatory, i.e. setting you up for the future with tools that prepare you thoroughly and take into account possible future situations. It can also be reactive where you have found yourself at a point or in a situation in your life where you need to take action and help would be welcome and valuable to make things clearer.

In a nutshell, it is about understanding your deepest feelings and learning how to follow them as they lead you to happiness and success.

Hypnotherapy

This list is by no means an exhaustive list of the problems and conditions that can be helped by Hypnotherapy.

Our unconsious mind can harbour ideas and thoughts and beliefs which are detrimental to us. These can lead to all kinds of problems, habits, obsessions, physical symptoms, emotional, relationship and nervous problems and this problem too.

Hypnotherapy is the use of hypnosis to naturally relax the conscious mind in order to communicate with the unconscious mind and to correct some of the misconceptions it has created, which are causing problems. While deeply relaxed, a person can address problem areas of their lives without becoming distressed. They are more open to the reality of the situation and willing to consider that there are alternatives to their current problematic behaviour. Sometimes they can discover and safely release the emotion or event which caused their problem in the first place.

This is where Hypnotheapy can be split into two main types, Hypnotic Suggestion Therapy and Hypno-Analytical Therapy.

Suggestion Therapy is the use of Hypnosis to make the client more receptive to positive suggestions regarding their problem and more open to alternatives to it and suggested alternative reactions and bahaviours. These are what are commonly known as Post Hypnotic Suggestions. That means the person takes these new ideas and alternatives away with them after Hypnosis. This is a very quick method of removing fears and changing bad habits. It can help alleviate or remove almost any symptom, emotional or physical. Typically, successful suggestion therapy can be completed in between one and three sessions.

NOTE: N.L.P. offers many suggestion therapy techniques which do not necessarily require Hypnosis.

Hypno-Analytical Therapy is a more in-depth procedure. It basically does the job that traditional psycho-analysis does, but in a fraction of the time. Typically, a deep seated problem can be successfully treated in five to ten sessions. This is recommended where a person is suffering anxiety, or where anxiety is the root cause of their symptoms. It is a cathartic process which is sometimes required to completely eradicate a problem, fear or habit where a repressed emotional past experience is the cause
